A monologue showreel is a short film of an actor performing one to three prepared speeches, shot and graded to look like broadcast drama. Unlike a clip reel cut from old credits, it is filmed from scratch, so a working actor with no usable footage can still submit a professional reel.

No. Solo monologue reels are now completely standard and casting directors watch them every day. A monologue puts the camera on you alone, which is exactly what a casting team is trying to assess. It also removes the scheduling problem of finding a second actor.
Two or three prepared pieces, two or three wardrobe options in plain mid-tones, and anything you use to warm up. Avoid tight patterns, logos and pure white. We keep steamers and a mirror on set.
