Birmingham actors reach the Actors Reels studio in Manchester in around 90 minutes, direct from New Street. A one-hour session covering up to three monologues is £295 against a comparable London rate that typically starts around £450 — so the trip north routinely costs less all in.

The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is one of the strongest training grounds in the country, the Rep produces at scale, and the BBC has a substantial presence. For a city with all that, the supply of studios doing nothing but filming actors' reels is surprisingly thin.
Direct services from New Street run frequently and take about an hour and a half. Advance returns booked ahead are modest, and the whole thing fits into a day without an early start.
